Mentoring, job training and self-esteem. These are just a few of the skills that trainees will gain in Farm Fresh’s Harvest Kitchen Program. By combining culinary training and mentoring to youth ages 16 to 19 that are involved with the RI Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF), has proven to be a great way to guide youth toward a better path. Program managers teach trainees to create food products from applesauce to pickles and more using ingredients sourced from local farms. More importantly, trainees also gain valuable life skills while working in the Harvest Kitchen Café and graduate from the program with a sense of pride and purpose.
